Something to Say about what, exactly?

Writing Advice + Publishing Guidance + Cultural Commentary

What are my credentials?

Working in publishing for over a decade as a writer, editor and literary agent, I’ve shepherded almost forty books onto bestseller lists and have built some of today’s biggest book brands. I was nominated for ‘Literary Agent of the Year’ at the British Book Awards 2020 and have marked out my territory as an industry leader in navigating the cross section between digital and print, speaking at international conferences on the subject and getting listed in “The Bookseller 150” which names the book trade’s most influential. I founded my own 360° publishing consultancy, Bergstrom Studio, which turns good ideas into books and aspiring writers into published authors. All to say, I’m one big literary whore!

But here are some things other people are saying about me.

What do I write?

I write personal pieces and cultural commentary for national magazines and broadsheets, including ELLE, the Sunday Times, the Telegraph, Refinery29 and more.

I also write books, and here are some things people have said about my debut novel ‘What a Shame’ :

'An intelligent, moving and darkly comic debut, taking us deftly from serious explorations of trauma and consent to riotously funny scenes of modern life - it's like Fleabag with a sprinkling of the occult' - The Sunday Times

'Tipped to be THE hit book of 2022' - Daily Mail

'Affecting, clever and blisteringly humorous... a riveting read about heartbreak, female shame and self-acceptance' - Red Magazine

Why should you pay for my substack?

If you subscribe you’ll regularly receive a piece of writing from me (and you don’t have to pay for it). But some of the content will be available to paid subscribers only, for these three reasons:

1). Writing and mentoring writers is what I do for a living but one-to-one consultancies are expensive and not everyone has access to them. So I’ve created an offering that can reach more people for a much lower cost.

2). I believe strongly that writers should be paid for their work and that social media platforms have led to us either giving it away for free or being forced to use advertising to pay for it.

3). I have access to some of the brightest minds in publishing and some of the most successful writes and will be working hard to include their advice so that the content on this platform is varied, informed and fresh.

The best way you can help me whilst I’m getting started is by sharing this with your community.
